This is one of those hidden little beer bars in Brussels, which is worth a detour. The name is linked to the local football team of Saint Gilles (a southern neighborhood of Brussels) the Union Saint Gilloise. Set on the main square of Saint Gilles, the Parvis de Saint Gilles, it tends to be usually full of locals, enjoying a local beer. Their beer choices are very decent, the food as well and usually there is enough chitter chatter to keep you going for a nice evening out.

L’amer à Boire
Fermented barley and wheat is served here with a lot of love. Those owners gather a portfolio of only excellence beers, mostly even just craft. A bunch of beers from tap next to special editions brewed in bottle. Feel like playing a board game when sipping one of their Belgian brews? Just do it: This bar is decorated with a whole wall of games so that you don’t have any excuse to be bored when the chit chat gossips has come to an end. As the owners were also keen for a summer bar, they opened in 2019 a splendid beer garden in another outskirt of Brussels, called Uclle.

Otomat is the first fully Belgian pizza restaurant concept centred around sharing pizzas. Typically Belgian is how we describe our ‘beerish’ vibe (we offer a selection of about twenty beers), pizza ‘with the Duvel’ inside, i.e. we use Duvel brewer’s yeast as an ingredient in our pizza dough, and original toppings.

Taverne du Passage
Taverne du passage is situated away from the daily hustle in the gallery the King of Saint-Hubert. You can enjoy a pleasant atmosphere, where waiters also can share the stories of this beautiful decoration. The kitchen can offer you typical Belgian and French food: North sea Shrimp croquettes, shrimp with pepper sauce ou mussels (in season available). Taverne du passage has an exceptional wine list and was the first in Belgium who won a prize for its wine.
