While waiting for you in this spot known for its great craft beers selection, our professional guide already prepares your first beer to treat you with the best welcome. That’s right: we don’t like letting our customers wait to be introduced to Belgian brews. The bar is specialised in Lambic beers, which makes it a great location to discover this traditional Brussels brew.
Let your host surprise you with some chocolate to help you discover more of the local delicacies: because a tasting is not complete without a good food pairing!
Your second beer is completely different as you are here to savour tastes from malty to hoppy, and perhaps even from spicy to herby. The guide will show you, and even let you taste, some of the key brewing ingredients to illustrate the complex process that lays behind the beer you’re sipping. Exchange thoughts with like-minded beer enthusiasts about the visuals, aromas and flavours of the beer, and learn how Belgium built its worldwide reputation in brewing. When glasses are empty, it’s time for the first brewery visit!
Over the course of the walk, you’ll get the chance to exchange opinions with your fellow group members and learn the first secrets about the brewery from your guide.
Next, you will be welcomed in the family brewery where Lambic, Gueuze, Faro and Kriek are created and where nothing has changed since 1900. Red copper containers, barrels (some of them more than 100 years old!), and walls full of bottles will constitute the scenery of your visit. Let’s follow the malt in its journey and explore the places and machinery where the magic of brewing happens. There is nothing more fascinating to see than the fermentation room where you’ll understand why Cantillon beers can taste different every year. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see the moment of the brewing or bottling (fun fact: some of our clients got to bottle their own beer!) , maybe you ’ll see how barrels are cleaned or how fruity beers are made in summer. Last but not least: maybe you ‘ll have the chance to talk with the brewer!
(Please note that this brewery visit is not available during Wednesday-, Sunday- and evening tours. Instead, you’ll visit a young craft brewery.)
We are now ready to move to the next brewery while enjoying a 15-mins-long beer quiz about IPAs and IBUs. Whether you are a Dutch or an English speaker, try to find the right terminology to answer correctly. The winner gets a reward at the end of the tour!
Explore the youngest brewery in town where young entrepreneurs will receive you with lots of love and give you an encredible brewery presentation with passion and the right dose of humor. Don’t be shy and ask them your questions! Depending on the availability of the brewers: visit a brewery without public access.
Who knows, you may even get a chance to be a pioneer and savour their new monthly creation or to sip the unfinished beer from the brew kettles. Any idea how that tastes? And last but not least: bottle one of their beers and take this personalised creation home!
So as we are in Brussels’ young district, we walk a bit further and grab a seat in the coolest bar, packed with locals, where we’ll finish our tour with one of Belgium’s traditional beers like a Trappist, Lambic or Triple. Enjoy the full experience and sip your beer while tasting small local delicacies.
Oh and by the way, let’s determine who scored the highest during our quiz so that the lucky one can be spoiled with an extra tasting! Before we say goodbye, your host will be honoured to share with you more delicious Belgian beers as a variant of your favourite beer of the tour! Have you discovered your new favourite taste?
